ABOUT EVAN

San Mateo County Roots

I am grateful to have grown up in San Mateo County. I attended St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School in San Mateo. I have many fond memories of riding my bike at the jumps, learning to rollerblade with my sister on the Foster City levee, and watching 4th of July fireworks. I took Caltrain to Bellarmine in San Jose my freshman year of high school before my family moved to Sonoma.

I graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a degree in Political Science – Public Service.  For 16-years I’ve worked alongside my father growing our family business specifying and selling Taraflex™ sports flooring to schools, churches, and community centers across Northern California. Working with and learning from my father is truly a gift and one of the best parts of my job. My parents worked hard to provide these opportunities for me and my sister. From them, I learned the importance of hard work, ethics, and community.

I met my incredible wife, Heather, as an undergraduate at UC Davis. We moved to Foster City when Heather accepted her dream job working as in-house counsel for a small pharmaceutical company. We are incredibly grateful and proud to call Foster City home and the place we want to start and raise a family. In our free time we enjoy cooking and connecting with our close-knit family and friends, attending the SF Ballet, and spending time outdoors, especially walking to the local coffee shops and restaurants near our home in Neighborhood 1. Please wave if you see us walking; I’m 6’4” and hard to miss 😉!

Putting in the Work

I am serving my 4th year as a member of the Foster City Planning Commission where in 2022 I was unanimously elected as Chair.  The Planning Commission acts as a quasi-judicial body under the City Council to apply the General Plan Policies for building and development applications. I also serve as the Planning Commission representative on the City’s Traffic Review Committee where we analyze and review changes to our streets, bike infrastructure, and parking regulations.

I am President of the Foster City Historical Society, one of Foster City’s oldest clubs, where we preserve the past always looking towards the future.  Through my involvement in the Historical Society, I’ve come to cherish the dream, intent and Master Plan of Foster City.

In 2022 I graduated from the San Mateo County Leadership Council’s CORPS Program.  The Leadership Council inspires, connects, and educates leaders from the business, government, and nonprofit sectors to positively transform San Mateo County and find solutions for the biggest issues facing our county.

I’ve learned firsthand how our city functions, but also how we can do better.  This is why I am running for City Council and I ask for your vote. With thoughtful, forward-thinking planning, we can minimize the impact of traffic and development on our community.  My experience, integrity, and vision will bring Foster City Together.
